✅ 🏞️ Churup Lagoon is located southeast of the city of Huaraz at 4,450 meters above sea level. The lagoon is fed by water from the Churup snow-capped mountain. Its characteristic color is turquoise, sometimes varying according to the sunset. The lagoon’s location is very interesting because it sits on top of mainly granodioritic rock formations.
✅ 🏔️ The lagoon offers panoramic views of the southwest face of Churup snow-capped mountain (5,495 meters), the Cordillera Negra mountain range, and the city of Huaraz.
✅ 🌿 It is also characterized by a great biodiversity of high Andean flora native to the area, including the Quenual, Quisuar, Icho, Gora, Wamanripa, and others. We can also occasionally observe species such as the Vizcacha and the Wildcat.
