Gokyo Lake Everest Panorama Trek

Gokyo Lake Everest Panorama Trek (12 days)

Gokyo Lake Everest Panorama Trek is another popular trails for trekkers. Gokyo Peak (5357 m, 17 575 ft above sea level) is a peak in the Khumbu region of the Himalayas. It is located on the west side of the Ngozumpa glacier, which is the largest glacier in Nepal, and reputed to be the largest in the whole Himalayas. Gokyo (4750 m, 15 583 ft above sea level), at the base of Gokyo Ri, is a small hamlet of a few stone houses and one of the highest settlements in the world. From Gokyo Ri it is possible to see five 8,000 metre peaks - Mount Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, Kangchenjunga, and Cho Oyu. The Gokyo Lakes are in the area.

Gokyo Lakes are oligotrophic lakes in Nepal's Sagarmatha National Park, located at an altitude of 4,700–5,000 m (15,400–16,000 ft) above sea level. These lakes are the world’s highest freshwater lake system comprising six main lakes, of which Thonak Lake is the largest. In September 2007, Gokyo and associated wetlands of 7,770 ha (30.0 sq mi) have been designated a Ramsar site.

The Gokyo trek is a fairly popular trekking route. The route itself ends at Gokyo Ri, and trekkers typically turn around at this point and retrace their steps back to the trailhead. There is an alternative mountaineering route that begins near the southern tip of Ngozumpa Glacier and just south of Taujun Lake. This alternative route leads east over the Cho La, a pass at 5420 m (17 782 ft), where it meets with the main Everest Base Camp trek.

On the way you can experience the unique Sherpa cultures, hospitalities, visiting ancient monasteries and learning about Buddhism and its impact upon Sherpa life are the memorable and unforgettable experiences you will get while traveling this region. While walking round the lake you will attracted by the amazing views of stunning and snow mountains ranges.

It offers excellent and rewarding views of Mount Everest in the adjacent range including lovely valleys, lush rivers and friendly people in quaint villages. From Gokyo village, you can see clearly Mount Everest from a slightly greater distance. The views in the Gokyo region are tremendous. During this trip you will observe the romantic villages of stone houses and walled pastures on the shores of Gokyo Lake. It offers you the chance to observe the local peoples way of life and also you may encounter yaks. While trekking to Gokyo Lake you will be astounded by the ice ridge between Cho Oyu and Gyachung located in Khumbu region. Gokyo Lake trekking provides panoramic views of Cho Oyu, Gyanchung Kang, Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, Cholaste and Tawachee.
